An interesting philosophical poem Ron. I try to balance writing to prompts with 'digging deep inside myself for inspiration.' And I agree 100% with your conclusion!

Well done!

This is so hard-hitting and poignant! I especially like; "What if there was no sun in the sky?
Would we be in total darkness and blind to the world?"

A wonderful post of questions....so reflective....so thought provoking.

"What if there were no yesterdays?
Would our history be gone and our past all erased?
A daily fresh start would be the new norm
And no home base anchoring our lives in place"

These words struck me most. We are who we were. We become from being in our past. For some, it is so very painful to look back. For others, there is laughter and lessons and memories and people's faces. That last line I quoted above....Home base anchoring our lives in place. I'm reminded of the framed saying I was given when we had our first of two children: The best things parents can give their children are roots and wings. At our 35th wedding anniversary we had a vow renewal service in our church with our two children as our witnesses. They both spoke about this phrase and its meaning to them. One said, " They did too good of a job on the wings!" And the other agreed....but then both also said to us "You are our roots. Wherever you are, you are our home." Oh my....I'm going nostalgic on you here! But that's what your poem is, right? Questions to make us think.
I enjoyed this post very much!
