Driving the Duoro Valley

We start the day before nature’s full sun
Another adventure, we’re on the run
Some call it work but to us it’s quite fun

Around each bend beautiful sites unfold
Each one appears special, each one quite bold
A million stories waiting to be told

Hills high above and valleys far below
River winds gently with consistent flow
When ships pass each other, their horns do blow

The terraced landscape is adorned with vines
Cultivated with love along curved lines
Grapes therein soon fermented into wines

It was a long day with early alarm
Saw something unique at every farm
As the Duoro Valley unveiled its charm

    1. I want to write about my adventures, and I want to write poetry. Combining the two seems to be efficient (and I’m convinced I was an efficiency expert in a previous life).

    1. Thanks. I had to work at the pentameter part. Eight beats (four steps) per line seemed more natural to me, although it was fairly easy to insert two syllables per line.

  1. You’ve beautifully captured the sights of the valley, and virtually took us there as well. Applause!
