Let’s Put An End To This
It starts faintly, barely a whisper
quietly expressing our displeasure
why can’t we put an end to this?
Self interested power plays
going on for years not days
maybe there’s an end to this
Conversations occurring daily
bad actions without repercussions
waiting for an end to this
The guilty show no remorse
still goes on and getting worse
longing for an end to this
Frustration knows no bounds
greed and hunger running rampant
begging for an end to this
SHOUTING FROM THE ROOFTOPS NOW
HUMAN HATE A MORTAL SIN
WE HAVE TO PUT AN END TO THIS

Linked to dVerse — Meeting The Bar: To turn again, about turn again, where Laura has challenged us to write a poem using epiphora (repetition) .
Epiphora, from the Greek ‘to turn about/upon’, is a stylistic device in which a word or a phrase is repeated at the ends of successive clauses:
- To drive home a point
- To make the words “catchy” or memorable
- To express a deeply held belief
- To convey strong emotion
- To create a regular rhyme scheme
getting louder too with each repeat:
“an end to this” – please God!
I was wondering as I was reading why each stanza looked different–but I heard the shout at the end! Yes, please put an end to this!
I hear you and I’m shouting with you Ron!
A most interesting progression in your poem …. well done!!!!
i really felt the rage rising in this poem, very well expressed.
The increasing size of the words is really effective.
I love how you showed the growing frustration from whisper to a shout… so many things grow from an itch.
