Long Lost Retreat
I had a bright idea for a tropical retreat
With vibrant lotus blossoms floating in my drink
Lounging by the ocean, blue as a peacock’s breast
I glimpse a hermit crab, scurrying to the west
The waves that are as soothing as a baby’s breath
Help my fears and troubles be vanquished to their death
The setting sun turns red, like a pomegranate seed
Against the darkening sky, it continues to recede
But alas my envisioned retreat was long lost to the times
I’m stuck in virus lock-up, though I committed no crimes

Linked to Linda Kruschke’s Paint Chip Poetry Challenge Prompt #29. The challenge is to write a poem in response to the prompt. The theme for today is Long Lost and the paint chips are: tropical, peacock, baby’s breath, bright idea, lotus, pomegranate, and hermit crab. I’ll only require you to use four, but let’s see who rises to the challenge of using them all.

We were on a similar wave length this time. I like how you used many of the prompt words as color descriptors, which is quite appropriate since they are paint chip colors.
I really like this. The ocean “blue as a peacock’s breast” and the sunset “red, like a pomegranate seed” stand out especially.
