Lost Lyrics is about adding verses to existing works from various musical artists. “A Whiter Shade of Pale” was the debut record of Procol Harum in 1967. With lyrics by Keith Reid, the song was composed by Gary Booker and Matthew Fisher. Here is my added verse:
For a while all seemed joyful
Minds entwined together
Doing all we could to make
The night go on forever
But soon the dawn arrived
And our memories did fade
Wondered was it ever real
I never should have stayed

A Whiter Shade Of Pale with Lost Lyrics
Original lyrics by Keith Reid in green, and my lost lyrics in black.
We skipped the light fandango
Turned cartwheels ‘cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
The crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
The waiter brought a tray
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale
For a while all seemed joyful
Minds entwined together
Doing all we could to make
The night go on forever
But soon the dawn arrived
And our memories did fade
Wondered was it ever real
I never should have stayed
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale
She said “there is no reason”
And the truth is plain to see
But I wandered through my playing cards
Would not let her be
One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might have just as well’ve been closed
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale
And so it was that later
——

Very clever, Ron! Your lyrics fit perfectly!
Thanks
You’re welcome!
Well done! You have a career in songwriting, my friend!
Thanks, but I do not want or need another career — strictly for fun.
Well done, Ron.
Love it… reading the lyrics more carefully it seems to me that the least you would have after a night like that is a very stiff hangover.
yes, indeed
This is good!
It does seem unreal now….(K)
Your lyrics are a wonderful addition to this dreamlike song.
Thank you
