Ode To Zippy Chippy
Zippy Chippy passed away today
why he never chalked a win
no mortal can say
100 outings he did partake
although sometimes
he never left the gate
zero wins became his fate
show business was his preferred career specialty

Awwww. Sweet boy. And so smart, living on his own terms. Loved this!
Yes, I don’t think he wanted to be a race horse.
Had never heard of Zippy Chippy. Read your poem and then Googled him. He was 31 at his death. Son of Compliance. I learn something new at almost every dVerse prompt!
Glad you learned a little something.
Both sad and very funny at the same time…gets sadder the more I think about it though…
What a delightful a quadrille!
Cheery and chirpy! Love it!
I love it, Ron. Made me smile all the way through. Zippy Chippy really rolls off the tongue well. Your closing was great! Finally, a win for old Zippy Chippy!
I saw the article you posted on fb about him. Fun poem, I’m glad he found his true calling.
I never knew this. A funny one.
A fitting tribute, Ron!

Great tribute to Zippy Chippy! Mine was Just a Little Icey, and though he never raced, he did love jumping. We competed for many years. Such wonderful animals, the Thoroughbreds.
Definitely have personalities.
