Once Upon A Time In Jacarvenice
One upon a time, in the mystical land of Jacarvenice
Lived a boy named Orlando, a sorcerer’s apprentice
He lived by himself in a hollowed out Jacaranda tree
At night he lighted it with candles for everyone to see
Orlando hated structure, obedience was not his forte
Seldom listening to his master, he would rather go out to play
His lesson for the week, it seemed rather royal
Was to cast ultraviolet light far and wide upon the soil
But mistakes were made and failures came to a head
When instead of casting light he cast fire instead
The orchard burnt down and blackberry bushes too
With no jam for his toast, he was now in a stew
The title ‘journeyman sorcerer’ went to all well trained
But no new title for Orlando, an apprentice he remained

My fairy tale poem in response to Linda Kruschke’s Paint Chip Poetry Challenge Prompt #31. The challenge is to write a poem in response to the prompt. This week’s challenge is to write a fairy tale using the angel card obedience and all four of the paint chip words, which are royal, jacaranda, ultraviolet, and blackberry.
I love this. Poor Orlando. His fate made me chuckle, even though I know I shouldn’t.
Very creative! ✨
