Roads Not Taken – Preamble
I was asked to write about
my many roads not taken,
the notion seems quite absurd,
because for every road I took
many dozen were overlooked.
You may contemplate one,
but what happens next?
Each fork spawns another
(and another and another).
If you grasp exponential math,
then you know what I mean,
counting roads not taken
produces numbers quite extreme.

I know what you mean! Every decision has an endless pathway of decisions branching off from it…
I looked up ‘exponential math’ and nearly had to go and lie down in a darkened room! I certainly see what you mean. And it’s neatly expressed in your poem. Nice one.
Sorry, didn’t intend to give you a mathematic panic attack.
Absolutely true, it had never occured to me, but then I’m no ordinary mathematician, let alone one of those exponential ones (whatever they are!)
My 61!
Indeed we are the sum of our decisions, every crossroad, every step taken. Well written!
Wonderful post! I don’t like math but I’m aware of how heavy regrets can be.
Dear Ron,
I barely scraped by in basic arithmetic. 😉 At any rate, aside from the exponential math, there are many roads we and Robert Frost haven’t taken, aren’t there? Well done.
Shalom,
Rochelle
What a great take on the prompt!
