Romantic Warrior
Romantic warrior arrives with hope
vowing to protect your heart
his quest is not one of science
it’s the expression of his art
White doves follow him
wherever he sallies forth
his course always clear to him
through woods and across the swarth
He’s wrapped in shining armor
donning ribbons from his truelove
by lakes and manors he gracefully rides
in full view of all thereof
Our warrior deftly carries his lance
with helm tightly fixed in place
upon his noble steed he rides
together they move with grace
Fueled by faith and faultless courage
it is justice he doth seek
mercy bestowed when warranted
while never appearing weak
He is not beholden to time
for he is from Forever
no conquest ever made of him
and this shall happen never
A bold knight-errant on his quest
his arrival foes do dread
saving maidens time and time again
proving chivalry is not dead
He rides off into the sunset
across the fields of heather
vowing to come back one day
but for now he returns to Forever

In this poem, I attempted to address the 7 knightly virtues of:
- Courage
- Justice
- Mercy
- Generosity
- Faith
- Nobility
- Hope
He sounds a romantic, perhaps even Quixotic, figure…
Great album, Ron. Fun choice to choose the knight from the album cover to speak. Nice to hear your voice. You enunciate well.
Love it!
Thanks Carol
Well done ekphrastic, Ron! It’s a fairy tale, and very nicely read, too.
Thanks Merril. Is it a fairy tale though? I thought I was describing my day job. 😉
Oh, well I don’t really know you, so go about your duties. 😏
Nice one. The days of chivalry.
Much💜love
In days of old
when knights were bold
and chivalry was not dead
Great stuff here and I enjoyed the reading. I especially, enjoyed the last verse.
Thanks. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
Clever stuff, Ron. I had forgotten about that album, I think I’ve still got it on vinyl!

I fear the image of such a just warrior is a myth… and sometimes even a dangerous one… realty is so much worse.
