Waltz of Love
Its all in my heart
great place
to start
I first saw your eyes
they were
the prize
Then found your sweet smile
it charmed
me while
The ballroom was ours
we were
the stars
I held you so tight
throughout
the night
We found love so true
and then
it grew
And our love goes on
no end drawn
it’s our endless waltz love song
——
Based on the meter of The Blue Danube Waltz by Johan Strauss II, which to me is a 5-2-2 beat with 5-3-7 ending flourish.
Linked to dVerse Poets Pub — Meet the bar waltzing where Björn wants us to focus on the beat of the waltz and to let the dance be our poem.
This is really sweet! Love the rhyme scheme throughout as well.
This is very romantic and heartwarming! I do believe you’ve found your perfect dance partner 🙂
If only we could dance forever… this sounds like a perfect match.
Fun image choice. I like the shape of your poem to emphasize the rhythm.
Methinks your wife is a very lucky woman….and methinks you’re a pretty darned lucky guy too!
The latter is certainly correct — I am a lucky guy.
Huge sighs from my corner of the world … and Bev is correct ~ lucky wife.
Bravo! I sang it to the melody of the Blue Danube and it was a wonderful way to meet the challenge, Ron.
The music came to me first, then I started writing words that fit. I originally had one more stanza, but when reading it back, I kept wanting to go into the crescendo flourish ending a stanza too soon. So, I eliminated one by combining/collapsing two thoughts into one stanza.
Ah, the romance of the waltz!
how sweet the dance that goes on and on! Beautiful
This is a wonderful take on the prompt. 🙂
Lovely dance rhythm – I can hear the Blue Danube in the background as I read the poem.
A lovely romantic swirl of words
Absolutely gorgeous. I can hear the song. Superb! Thanks for sharing.
