When I’m Old

When I’m old and on the government’s dole
I’ll be eating by candlelight from a crusty old bowl

Same as the antique brass that is losing its luster
I’m no longer like a cumulonimbus full of bluster

The grass is always greener just over the verdant hill
But when those hills are ages, it’s a nasty tasting pill

While the body fades my wild huckleberry soul remains
And thoughts are aplenty in my spice market of a brain

But who am I kidding, life has never been better
Getting old is the reward, now where is my sweater
