Can I Bother You Brother?
Can I bother you brother?
I won’t take up much of your time.
You need to know this up front,
I’ve committed no crime.
It’s bail money I need,
because I was jailed recently.
For crimes perpetrated by others,
I am no longer free.

Quadrille: A poetic form consisting of exactly 44 words, including a prompt word: Quadrille Defined in a Quadrille
Oh this is deeply moving, there are so many such cases where the perpetrators run free and the innocent are deemed as guilty.
I cannot imagine anything worse than having to be for bail money… but as I remember from Shawshank redemption… “everybody is innocent in here”…. no one believe you
That is exactly correct.

A sad tale indeed.
I appreciate this poem as a preamble to what comes next, as so many scenarios could play out… Nicely done, Ron!
I count my blessings that my brother (serving 25 to Life) knew better than to attempt to contact e for bail.
Well done, OherRon.
So sad. The fear is real!
I am sure this does happen at times. Well done!
Nicely done in 44 words.
Sadly, justice seems always on the run from those who need it.
I just watched ‘In the Name of the Father’ the other night. To be locked up for a crime you didn’t commit is unimaginable. And then have to stay there to save the prosecutors from scandal: there’s a true crime.
A chilling, a make-you-ponder quadrille … well done!
Such a sad story, indeed. Like Bjorn, I thought of Shawshank, and which stories can be believed. Well done.
