Did Someone Say Food?

It’s no ordinary food court
I’ll have you know
be sure you’re quite hungry
before you go

More than two dozen restaurants
to please your palate
and plenty of bars to satisfy
your drinking habit

It’s a gastronomical delight
for all your senses
the city’s best chefs
without pretenses

Cais do Sodré neighborhood
of old Lisbon
in a grand expansive venue
is where it’s done

If you are like me
one day is not enough
a second day was needed
for all that gourmet stuff

TimeOut Market
don’t forget the name
you can get there easily
just take the 15E train

Link to TimeOut Market — It is highly recommended if you are ever in the neighborhood. I didn’t have the octopus hotdog, but I did try the octopus tacos.

    1. We were there during the height of COVID (at the time). Spain and Portugal have some of the highest vaccination rates in the world. We felt much safer there than in the US. Tourism was low, but the locals were out in full force.

    1. Yes, while both are “markets” they are quite different. The Barcelona market was mostly vendors of a single or group of items (fruits, meats, etc) and a few with seats where you could eat. Lisbon is almost entirely high-end gourmet restaurants with renowned chefs, although a couple were focused on single food items (donuts and yogurt come to mind), and the giant wine dispensary in the middle of the eating area.
