Market On The Rambles (a haibun)

Destination: Mercado de la Boqueria, Barcelona.  Rambling down ‘The Rambles’ of Barcelona, Spain has long been a must-do and must-see activity for both visitors to Barcelona and residents alike. I arrive mid-morning, as a first-time visitor to this exquisite locale, and become immediately enthralled.  The sycamore-lined boulevard, with its tiled center walkway, is truly a magnet for attracting pedestrians.  The flower stalls, food vendors, musicians, and architectural delights all compete for my attention.  Stepping inside the market, my senses accelerate into overdrive.

  1. Ahhh…you captured the market scene well! I can smell the spices from here. Your entry reminds me of a market in Tanzania I recently visited and wish we had something like it here in Houston.
