Meteoric Devastation
The meteor came from parts unknown
Hitting its target with a force of stone
Earth would never be the same again
Sadly, the sky belched putrid rain
As seeds of ultimate destruction were sown
Up-ending all life as it was known
Rancid air remained foul and distinct
Until all dinosaurs became extinct
Saving only the one called Thesaurus
——
An acrostic poem for National Thesaurus Day (no thesaurus was consulted in the construction of this poem)
Linked to dVerse – Poetics –The Poet’s Store House, where Laura is hosting and asked to write something appropriate for National Thesaurus Day.
Like encyclopedias, the Thesaurus is replaced by Goggle Search, where trillions trump thousands.

You put a smile on my face with this bit’o scifi Ron! 🙂
Clever. 🙂
You know, I almost went prehistoric myself, and so it made me quite happy to see the thesaurus be revealed in all it’s glory. Fun one.
Ha! This is really clever!
This made me smile! Well done!
Witty acrostic, quite a bit of fun I had, while reading this ‘lil piece of science fiction 😉
Brilliant poem Ron!
you made excellent headway with both rhyme and meter through this acrostic

Oh this made me smile loud!!!
I like your disclaimer at the end. Funny to think of thesaurus as a dinosaur.
That last line has me chuckling. Wonderfully done.
Fab Acrostic – and lots of laughs with the ending.
Clever acrostic and at the same time, an ode to Thesaurus!!! In a very unique way!
