Pulteney Bridge (a haibun)

Destination: Bath, England.   With a good night’s sleep, a hearty English breakfast, and the adrenalin that accompanies the start of a multi-week adventure, we had shed all symptoms of jetlag.  It was the last day of August, and we were anxious to see Bath.  Our first stop was the Roman Baths of Bath, but there were many other notable sights in the central part of town: the Bath Abbey, the Parade Gardens, and the Pulteney Bridge (to name a few).

The Pulteney Bridge across the River Avon was completed in 1774. It is famous for being one of only four bridges in the world to have shops on both sides of the road across its entire span.  The late August weather was a delight, making it nothing short of a perfect day.

    1. I tend to always write about a trip I have taken whenever you are hosting haibun night. Thanks for the prompt.
